   PA here I come!!

   Well guys I'm going back to PA!!! This is going a fast email sorry not a ton of time today but I'll try to do the highlights!

   Well, you know that it's never a good thing when President Johnson calls at 7AM Saturday morning! ;)   So I found out that I am leaving Sister Jacobson and going to New Bloomfield, PA! Not only that but I am going to be doubling in and training again!!   I'm super nervous but really excited at the same time.

   Some highlights from this past week:

   We went on exchanges in P3 again and I was able to go see, Rachel, a lady I used to teach and the Sisters are going to be teaching her again!  Following inspiration is the best!!

   We contacted a referral, Karen, who sounded less than happy to have us over when we talked to her on the phone. BUT we ended up teaching her and she is now a new investigator.

   The investigators investigator, T.J., who's we helped teach too and is like a grandpa to us, got baptized!!!  The Spirit was so strong.  It was a cool experience seeing him go from no belief in God to having a strong testimony in the restored gospel.

   My last Sunday in the Wheeling Ward was the best.  Two less-active members, John and Pat, that I feel like I was sent here to help were able to make it to church and both are on their way to being active members again!  It was a great day! J

   Well I love you all.  I've loved being in Wheeling and working with Sister Jacobson.  I have learned so much and am excited for the next journey to come my way.  Send some prayers my way ‘cuz I'm gonna’ need all the help I can get!  Till next week :)

Kimber mail 10-17-2016: "Week 11..round 3!!👊🏽"

   What a beautiful thing that we aren't alone in this journey, right?! This week was awesome and was a powerful learning experience for both Sister Jacobson and I. 

   Guys I love week 11! So for new missionaries, week 11 is when they get to step-up and take charge basically (and the trainer just gets to step back and offer support).  😜 Ha, ha but it is really a great learning week.  It's hard to believe I'm almost done training Sister Jacobson - one more week! 😱.  It feels like just last week Sister Hansen was training me and I was freaking out trying to lead out week 11.  And it feels like just yesterday I was cheering my other amazing "daughter", Sister Thorson, along as she killed leading out her week 11.  Time is seriously flying!!  But this week I was so impressed and proud of Sister Jacobson! She reminded me a lot of myself- had some “spazz-outs,” unsure and feeling inadequate at times BUT she worked hard every second of every day and we saw miracles! I think one of the things I was most impressed with was that she made the effort to stop and talk to every single person we saw.  Her love for the Savior and His gospel is so contagious! There were so many blessings and miracles this week, I have no clue where to start but stay with me!! 

   Monday- On our way home Sister Jacobson felt like we needed to call 3 specific less-active members so we did and had some amazing lessons over the phone with them.  All 3 of them were going through very different trials but as we listened we were prompted to share a different talk from conference with all of them.  Isn't the spirit a gem?! 💎

   Tuesday- Okay there's a few highlights from today I'll try to make them brief, I couldn't choose just one:

   💎We met up with some girls - Kristian and Elizabeth- who used to take the lessons but stopped taking them. We had lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings with them and this is where the gems come in: 

   1) New Investigators: We talked about the gospel the WHOLE time. It was such a great discussion and the Spirit was so strong- right there in BWWs - hearts were being softened. They both agreed to take the lessons again and start fresh! Holla! 

   2) Free Food: Okay the Lord really blesses us in the funniest/ coolest ways. So apparently BWWs has this legit lunch deal (maybe it's new, maybe not...idk I don't go there often so I couldn't tell you for sure) where if they don't bring your meal out in 15 minutes it's free. Well our waitress punched the timer on the table and by the time we got our food it was 15:43. AND OUR FOOD WAS FREE! Greatest tender mercy everrrr! 

   💎 Next highlight was we went back to follow up and see if this guy, Ray, that we met last week had read out of the Book of Mormon we left him. Well this older woman comes running toward us as we are walking up to her house and I'm thinking "oh man she's going to scream at us...this is never a good sign". But as we get closer, sweet Sister Jacobson smiles and tells her who we are and that we have a special message for her. She exclaims "I know I've been waiting for you to come back!" We proceeded to have a lesson with her and talked about the power of the Book of Mormon. She told us her name was Charlene and said that her son never answers the door and really felt like he needed the Book we were talking about and that she was hoping we would come back so she could learn more too! 

   💎 Something I just love about Sister Jacobson is that she's not a quitter. She didn't just turn around after that lesson with Charlene and say 'alright done!' We walked that whole street and the streets around that street sharing cards and Books of Mormon left and right. Right as we were hurrying to our car so we wouldn't be late for dinner she stops in the middle of the road and pulls me toward the sidewalk. She told me that we needed to pray and that there was one more house that we needed to stop by. We prayed and walked up to this house in the middle of the street. The lady came out and was so kind! We shared a Book of Mormon with her and I'm pretty sure the message we shared about families touched her. It was legit! 

   Wednesday- We had training in Washington, PA all day and learned about how to have more effective chapel tours. It was a fun day! Well that training came in handy because Kristian (see Tuesday gem 1) came to Book of Mormon class and we gave her a little tour! 

   Thursday- Sister Jacobson also is amazing at knowing when people need some extra help. We asked Millie (who was feeding us dinner) if she needed anything. Normally she just tells us she's good but this time she told us she needed help pulling out weeds in her back yard- she couldn't do it because of her back. So we went early and helped her and it was so great to get to know her better! I love helping people feel our Savior's love!! 

   Friday- We tried some referrals and we were able to have more awesome lessons and share more Bibles and Books of Mormon. And then it was Dave's baptism!! Dave is just the coolest. He's one of Brother Orum's friends and has come so far. Just a month and a half ago he said 'maybe in a year I'll start taking the lessons'. Even though we didn't get to teach him (the Elders did,) it was awesome to see him progress and become happier and happier as we would see him at Book of Mormon class and at church each week. He was SO happy as he came up out of the water and had the biggest grin I think I've ever seen on his face! The spirit was so strong. 

   Saturday- We had the Sikoles big Halloween party that we've been helping get ready the last couple months. It was awesome seeing my mission "sister", Sister Johnson and her mom, as they came back to visit the mission! We were able to talk to so many people at the party and it was such a fun service, leading tours through the Halloween -trail. #ProTourGuides

   Sunday- I think my highlight from today was seeing little Wyatt Phillips be baptized. He is 8 and has this rare ear problem that if water gets in his ear it causes major problems. So understandably he was nervous but he was so excited to be baptized. He had some special ear plugs so that nothing would go wrong. Everyone was on the edge of their seat. Wyatt was baptized a good 3 times because his head didn't go all the way under. The last time brought tears to everyone watching. His dad held him close and as Wyatt quietly said 'Dad I'm scared. Do you think I can do this?' His dad knelt in the water to be on his level and held him close and said 'I know you can!' It reminded me of how our Heavenly Father never lets us do anything alone. He is right there helping us through anything and everything so that we can progress! It was amazing.

Okay guys the moment you've all been waiting for: 

THE TEMPLE WITH ANNE WAS AMAZING!!  :D 

   Days like this are far and few between the tough ones BUT it's days like this that make it all worth it. Let me back up to a few months ago and review who Anne is, for those that forgot or are just tuning in.  J

   Okay so back up to the beginning of summer when I was serving in P3 with Sister Taunima.  We got this referral who said they wanted the lessons and even though they were in the Elders' area, they wanted sister missionaries. #SorryElders😜  Which was actually a huge tender mercy because pretty much all the referrals we would get would be in the Elders' area and would have to go to them.  Anywho-  come to find out Anne (the referral) was a member who has just been less-active for the last several years. She had been back in PA for the last 3 years but now was reaching out to us. So over the course of meeting with her and teaching her, the three of us built this strong bond, working through the good and bad. As a missionary one of my favorite things (as President Johnson says) is getting to have a "front row seat to conversion."   My life changed watching Anne give up the 'good' things for those 'best' eternal things. Her testimony of Joseph Smith and the restoration brought tears to my eyes. She made church a priority again and had her focus set on going to the temple. Yes folks, she is even more amazing than she sounds!  She could have easily been offended, or given up or just put a half-a-heart into coming back, but she didn't. She said she was prompted to get back to the church by the Lord telling her "You know what you need to do."  How many times do we know what we need to do but just push it off until when we feel like doing it later? Do we take the gospel for granted? Just some food-for-thought. Anyway, a few weeks ago Anne called me. She told me that she just got her temple recommend and wanted to go do baptisms for the dead with Sister Jacobson and I.  I know that the Lord's timing is perfect. It's no coincidence that I was transferred to one of the couple spots in the PPM that can actually go to a temple. I started tearing up as I saw her come out in her white jumpsuit and with excitement enter the water to perform baptisms for those who have passed on. The spirit was so strong. I didn't want that day to end!  I never would have thought almost 6 months ago that I would be in the temple doing baptisms with Anne, but how grateful I am for that sweet experience. She truly has changed my life. I am grateful I was able to be a tiny part of her journey back to the fold.  A friend of mine told me a few months ago to "always believe in those that you meet, they can achieve great things!"  It's so true. We may never know what someone can accomplish but our Heavenly Father sure does. I know that He is fully aware of our situations. I know he NEVER stops loving us and welcoming us back. I know that we are never, ever, EVER alone on this journey!  I am grateful for those guardian angels that have been placed along my path and am especially grateful for the ones out here on my mission.  I love doing the Lord's work and bringing back the lost. I remember when I came out kind of grumbling and not having the greatest of attitudes about Less-Active work but my whole perspective has changed. I personally think bringing a Less-Active member back is just as good as a baptism!  What an honor it is to be on the Lord's errand. I know there's true joy in doing the hard things and following the Lord. Just as one of my favorite hymns says it best:

                                      

It may not be on the mountain height

Or over the stormy sea,

It may not be at the battle’s front

My Lord will have need of me.

But if, by a still, small voice he calls

To paths that I do not know

I’ll answer, dear Lord, with my hand in thine:

            I’ll go where you want me to go

Kimber Mail 10-8-2016: "It's P-Day Finally!!!"

   Hey guys! Long time no talk :P I hope you are all still alive and well! Man it's so nice to finally have p-day! We moved it to today, so that we can go to the temple again. 🎉😆I'm pretty sure this is going to be one of my top favorite experiences of my mission so stay tuned for updates on Monday! I decided today I will just pull highlights from last week and this week for you and Monday will be all about my temple experience! I'll try not to overwhelm ya ha, ha but here ya go: 

   Last week: Sept 26- Oct 2

Okay so I picked my top 3 highlights from last week and they were: 

• Getting to help at Sister Chamberlain's (lady who was in the ward) funeral.  We helped out with the food and I got asked to play some piano music while people were coming in before it started. Now these may seem like little things but it touched my heart how many of her family members came up and thanked me for the peaceful music. The spirit sure was strong! 
• On Wednesday before our district meeting we decided to try to contact a referral we received. Our GPS got so confused, poor g-kingy (my sasser GPS whom I love), so we relied on prayer and come to find out she lived at the top of this windy hill in the very last house. What are the odds right? She wasn't home sadly but it was just a cool experience being able to let the spirit guide us to find the house. Who would have thought her street would be so stinking windy and long!! Exercise- check and check! 
• And of course: a missionaries' Christmas- General Conference!! I'm so sad this is my last conference on the mish but now I have some good techniques that I'll keep using! We were able to watch it at some wonderful members’ homes: the Lawsons and Sister Folmar’s! And to make things even better, our investigator Emma and a less-active member, Sister Patterson, were able to watch it with us too! There were so many great talks and I want to just mention a few of my favorites: 

Highlights:

• There were so many great talks on prayer!! I especially loved Sister McConkie's and Elder Uceda's (Sat Morning) talks about trusting the answers we get and really making prayer a sacred time to talk with our Father in Heaven and feel that connection with Heaven. 
• Elder Cornish (Sat Morning): I loved how he talked about using the Atonement to become better than we were in the past and looking to the future! It was a spiritual and emotional boost that was much needed. 
• Elder Oaks (Sat Afternoon): gave a much needed plug for member missionary work and how to have "success" in the work! We need your help folks!! 
• Pres. Monson (Sun Morning): I loved how he said to 'firmly plant our feet on the path' and to live the truth!! 
• Elder Meurs (Sun Morning): it was so cool to hear him speak again (he was just hear a month or so ago) and I loved how he talked about preparing ourselves for our meetings. I need to do better at that one. 
• Elder Nattress (Sun Afternoon): I loved the emphasis he put on doing our part and teaching the gospel! He reminded me that I am "an angel in Zion" and I love the question he asked "how would I feel to see the savior? Would I know and recognize him?" 

   I could go on and on but I really loved conference and got so many answers and guidance. I hope you all can continue to find answers and guidance as we go back and study those talks again! I will keep writing at the end of my weeklies commitments I will be working on from things I pulled out from each talk. So you are welcome to work on them with me if you so desire! J 

   This week's highlights: Oct 3- Today (8th!) 

• So I'm not sure if you guys have heard about the clowns on the loose...but I just want to shout out that because of them, we were able to get into a less actives' house that we haven't yet! Holla! They rushed us inside and told us it wasn't safe to be out walkin around, gave us pepper spray and told us to take as long as we want with our message. Haha soooo good. It was also in this lesson that half way through what sister Jacobson is saying I look down and there's something on my shoe. It looked like mud so i tried to brush it off....NOPE! Not mud. I think there little dog pooped on me! SICK! Hahaha Sister Jacobson made me hold my shoe out the window on the way home because it smelled so bad. 1) My shoe is shiny clean and as good as new and 2) Also don't worry mom I'm safe;) 
• I love when we get to have Interviews w/PJ! They are always so needed. President Johnson is the sweetest man and is just like family. We can joke around and then 5 seconds later have a serious conversation. He always manages to make me cry...good tears, good tears, but I honestly thank the Lord that he sent me to this mission so that I could serve with President and Sister Johnson I just love them so much! One day I hope to be like them. In my interview on Tuesday, President Johnson called me a gem and I had to giggle because 1) I love that word and 2) look how hip he is! We also reflected on what spiritual gifts I've seen grow and develop over the course of my mission. I told him that I've noticed that my ability to be close to the spirit and have a good relationship with him (the spirit) has definitely increased a LOT and that I've been able to grow a more christ-like love for people. At the end I made a sarcastic remark about how the Lord thinks he's funny making me do everything that I didn't want to do but that it's what I needed. President got real serious again and told me he knew he could rely on me to do whatever the Lord asked and that I could do hard things! I really have come to see that I can do whatever is placed in my path and whatever the Lord asks because with him everything is possible. 
• One day we decided to go out and tract it up! So after a hiking up that windy road (see referral story above) again and having door after door reject us. We prayed real hard. We soon found a lady who wasn't interested but gave us a referral for a man across the street who was! Of course he was the last house on the steeet;) haha but we didn't stop there. As we were walking down a different street to our car we saw some people outside with their kids. I whispered to Sister Jacobson "you ready to OYM?!" (Open your mouth). And what a good "daughter" she is because she, without skipping a beat, and with a smile on her face walked right up to these people and proceeded to share a Book of Mormon with the woman. The man kind of backed away and sat on a curb a few doors down with his daughter in his lap blowing bubbles. After we wrapped up our conversation with the woman the true miracle happened. I feel like sometimes after something good happens it's so easy to say "sweet we had a great experience! We are done! Lets go to the next activity". But no the spirit spoke to both sister Jacobson and I and told us to now go talk to the man. We walked up and noticed how sad his eyes were. As we shared a Book of Mormon with him and talked he got happier. We shook hands and walked away and there was a smile on his face. He kept saying "thank you! Thank you girls!" Now it may not seem like anything huge but I love seeing the gospel bring pure joy to people- it really does!

Kimber mail 9-26-2016: "Your Mission is Like a Roll of Toilet Paper..."

   Hands down best quote of the week was from Zone Conference and it went a little something like this: "Your mission is like a roll of toilet paper...when it gets closer to the end, the faster it goes!" So stinking true! I still have a good while left on my mission but man are the weeks whizzing by! This week I have been reminded time and time again to really soak up all these "gem" mission experiences before I get to the end of my "tp roll!" Ha,ha :) From inspirational conferences, to hoarders homes, to salt guns shooting flies and bonding with members, to laughing so hard tears form, to tearfully bearing testimony that the Atonement alone is enough to one fighting suicide. Every day is a roller coaster but I am learning more than ever to enjoy the ride and make the most of the moments. It's the best! You ready for some highlights?! They are gems for sure!!

   🗯 Zone Conference was SO good. I love getting to see so many missionary friends and hear from President and Sister Johnson. Here are some things that stood out:

- Sister Johnson shared a parable about a cracked watering pot and talked about how our flaws can become strengths with the Lords help.  Favorite quote: " I have always known about your flaws and took advantage of it”

- Pres. Whalstrom (1st councilor): "Study it out, pray really hard and put it in God's hands"

- President Johnson: "Make watching general conference for the rest of your life a priority now and follow the teachings!"

- President Murray: "Come unto him with full purpose of heart and be healed"

- AP's: "Our ability to teach improves as we study and ponder...in studies ask questions and have a specific topic to study for"

   🗯 Hoarders- Buried Alive: Man oh Man. We helped out this Less Active lady hang up a shelf this week and it was by far the worst hoarding house I've seen yet on my mission.  It was so rough and poor sister Jacobson was in shock I think. Ha, ha. Oh man! But it was really humbling too. In the crazy mess of her home we had a lesson and I was reminded that the gospel really does fit every life, every situation and every heart if we will let the words in!

   🗯 Teaching by the Spirit: This week a couple lessons in specific stand out that were super powerful- I thought. The first was to one of our investigators we haven't seen in a while. She finally got back to us and we talked about the power of the gospel. She had been missing the Spirit we brought into her home and we talked about doing everything we can to bring the Spirit in daily on our own. By the end she excitedly committed to come to our Book of Mormon Class and to come watch General Conference. The next lesson was with our investigator Frank. He is my favorite! He is so funny and so smart! We were finishing teaching him about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Sister Jacobson invited him to be baptized. He started in with the whole "oh girls...I've already been baptized I'm set!" spiel...or so I thought. Sister Jacobson looked at me like "Ahh! What do I do?!"  Ha, ha, ha, I remember those days all too well.  So I opened my mouth "You know Brother Jackson, we understand where you are coming from but..."  And the Spirit boldly shut me down and said "No! Ask what concerns he has," so I did. He opened up and told us he had none. He explained that his sister was a member of our church and how everything we've told him he feels like he's heard before. He said he's more than willing to work toward baptism and really loves what we've shared so far! So sister Jacobson extended a baptismal date to work toward and it was powerful!! I probably won't be here to see him get baptized but just the fact that we were able to find and invite and help prepare him, is something I will always cherish. :)

   🗯 Service and Food: we did a ton of service again this week but my personal favorite was helping the Sikoles with their Halloween trail again. Oh man this is coming together so well! It's so exciting. They also moved the party back before transfers because they want to be sure I'll be there. They seriously made my day,  that was so sweet. I just love the Sikoles!

   🗯 Awesome Members: there are so many gem members that really help lighten our loads and I couldn't thank them enough for the food, laughs and sacrificing their time to come out and teach and visit with us! Shout-outs this week include but are not limited to:

- The Zanes, Fusselmans, Lawsons, and Olivers for making our grumbly tummies happy

- Sister Lawson for helping us heart attack (like a champ) our investigator's door (our investigator just had surgery!)

- Brother Orum, Sarah, Dave and sister Folmer for hosting FHE and providing taco bell tacos to break our fast 😍😆🎉

- And my favorite of the week: shout-out to Sister Stansell for showing up to drive us to the Women's Broadcast Saturday. We thought she was coming later than she ended up coming.... so that meant quickly changing out of our comfy planning clothes. Special shout-out to my companion for bringing me my outfit to change into so I didn't have to streak in front of the Relief Society President standing in the hallway! Ha, ha, ha, ha 😂

   Basically this week was great! The church is true. The book is blue.  And I love you!!

   I invite you all to watch General Conference with a specific question in mind this upcoming weekend. I know that my questions that I had for the Women's Session on Saturday were answered and I know that the answers will come to you too! Kimber mail 9-19-2016: "Temple Power"

   What's up everyone?! Hope you've all had a good week- if not...well hey it's a start to a new week so that's just peachy, huh? J Okay this week was awesome but the highlight was for sure this weekend! Why, you ask? Well I'll tell ya - hang tight!

   Okay so Saturday night was the Cultural Celebration for the Philly Temple.  For those that don't know what that is: basically it's just a big celebration for the temple being completed, there's lots of cool cultural dances and it gets you pumped for the dedication! So earlier in the day Sister Jacobson and I had this prompting to invite one of the less-active members we've been working with to come.  So we called him.  He was having a pretty crummy day and was telling us all about his current stresses (have I mentioned how much I love the rambles?! #SoMuch).  But seriously- so I finally reined the ramble in and we said a prayer with him over the phone. We had a good talk about faith and putting our trust in the Lord. We were able to testify to him that any time we sacrifice for the Lord we are blessed more than we could ever expect or imagine. We told him we felt like coming to the celebration would be something good to get his mind off his stress - and there would be food (which makes one happy) so....long story short, he came! And he loved it! He said that it was just what he needed and was somehow able to figure out solutions to the majority of his problem. How? Not sure. But the Lord works in mysterious ways folks! But the celebration was super interesting and cool! It was legit how they were able to tie the founding fathers and significant Philly events into significant church events going on at the same time. It was just really cool! It brought back great memories of when I was able to participate a few years ago in the Boise Cultural Celebration! Good times :P

   And then came the Philly Temple dedication (the 152^nd temple!) on Sunday! I felt so blessed to be able to attend all 3 dedication sessions that day. Each had things that were different and things that were the same and the repeated messages were powerful. I was really reminded that as more and more temples are dedicated the closer we get to the 2^nd coming of our Savior and the harder we need to work. It was also a great comforting reminder that temples are safe havens, refuges and peaceful places to escape from the world's storms for a time.  Elder Perkins (who came to our mission a few weeks ago) was there along with Elder Christofferson and Pres. Eyring! They all seemed to be beaming from ear to ear and it made me think of how I felt when I got to finally go to the temple again last month, for the first time in the last year! Temples truly bring pure joy! Some things that I loved that Elder Perkins said were that "we need to sacrifice ourselves to be like Christ - to be in world but not of it."  We can go to the temple to receive much needed peace!  He also said "If we want to be happy, try to be a little more holy every day."  Bam! Isn't that just so great?!  And so true!  I want you guys to think - when was the last time you were able to go to the temple?  What's keeping you from going as often as you can? (Unless you’re a missionary - then that struggle is real, HA!) But I want you all to reflect on what the temple means to you. Most of us have a temple close. If for one reason or another you can’t enter into the temple right now, that's alright!  Keep working at it.  Keep your sight always on the temple.  We all need the peace the House of the Lord brings. Even just walking on the temple grounds can be a powerful, peaceful experience. I hope we can all take full advantage of being at the Lord's House as often as we can. I know it will bring you peace, guidance, comfort and the healing that you seek. Keep enduring and keep pressing forward with the temple in your sight! :)
